Privacy Policy for HAR Online

The Hawai'i Association of REALTORS ® ("HAR," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit www.hawaiirealtors.com.

This Policy does not apply to information collected by third-party websites or services that link to or integrate with HAR's website. We do not control those third parties' tracking technologies or their privacy practices.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using HAR's website, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Children's Privacy

HAR's website and services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that information from a child under 13 was collected without verified parental consent, we will delete it.

We collect two categories of information: (A) personal information you provide and (B) information collected automatically when you use our website.

A. Information You Provide Directly

You may provide personal information when you:

• Participate in a listserv or committee.
• Update your membership information.

The types of information you may provide include but are not limited to your:

• Name.

• Mailing address.

• REALTOR ® membership information.
• Payment-related information when placing an order (used only to complete the transaction).
• Committee or volunteer-related information.

B. Information Collected Automatically

As you navigate the HAR website, we may automatically collect information relating to your:

• Pages visited, links clicked, and browsing patterns.
• Dates and times of webpage visits.

3. How We Use Your Information

HAR uses personal information for several purposes, including but not limited to:

• Providing member-only services, including but not limited to committee lists, directory functions, and HAR governance materials.

4. How We Share Information

HAR does not sell your personal information. We may, however, disclose your information: (A) to service providers; (B) to HAR members, in limited situations; (C) in response to legal obligations; (D) for orders and transactions; (E) to the public.

A. Sharing Information with Service Providers

HAR may disclose your information to service providers, including but not limited to website hosting and maintenance, email distribution, payment process, and security and analytics providers. These providers may only use the information to perform services for HAR.

B. Sharing Information with HAR Members (Limited Situations)

HAR may share:

• Names of HAR directors and committee members.
• Preferred contact information for directors and committee members.
• Your preferred contact information with third-party vendors performing work on HAR's behalf.

HAR never intentionally shares a member's home address or home telephone number unless the member has designated it as "preferred contact information."

C. Sharing Information In Response to Legal Obligations

HAR may disclose information to:

• comply with a court order, subpoena, or legal process;
• respond to a government or regulatory request; or
• protect the rights, property, or safety of HAR, a HAR member, or another.

D. Sharing Information for Orders and Transactions

To fulfill product orders, HAR may share necessary information with shipping providers, payment processors, and related vendors.

E. Sharing Information with the Public

If a member of the public requests verification of a REALTOR®'s membership, HAR may confirm:

• whether the person is a member;
• the member's firm name;
• the local association through which the member hold membership.

HAR does not disclose personal information (e.g., home address or personal telephone number) to the public, except when legally required or necessary to prevent imminent physical harm.

5. HAR Member Information Practices

A. Confidentiality

In general, all member information provided to HAR is treated as confidential.

B. Member Communications

HAR uses preferred contact information to send membership publications, legal updates, newsletters, governance materials, and mandatory notices.

C. Listservs

If you participate in a HAR listserv, your email address will be used to send listserv messages. You may unsubscribe using the instructions in the first email you receive.

D. Opt-Out Options

You may opt out of having your preferred contact information provided to third parties performing work for HAR by contacting: har@hawaiirealtors.com.

Directors and committee members cannot opt out of required governance communications.

6. Cookies and Tracking Choices

You may refuse browser cookies through your browser settings, but doing so may limit access to certain site features. You may also update Flash cookie settings via Adobe's website.

HAR does not respond to all "Do Not Track" signals because there is no common standard for interpreting them.

7. Updating Your Information

If you need to update or correct information displayed on HAR's website, email: har@hawaiirealtors.com.

Updates to HAR's database must also be made through your local association, which maintains official member records.

8. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure.

But no system is completely secure. Data you transmit over the Internet is at your own risk.

9. Changes to This Policy

HAR may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in technology, law, or HAR practices.

We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised Privacy Policy on our website. Your continued use of HAR's website after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
