Welcome,

Real Estate License Renewal

Important information you need to know about renewing your Hawai‘i real estate license every two years (even-numbered years).

What You Need to Know About License Renewal

(Information from Real Estate Branch, Professional and Vocational Licensing Division, State of Hawai‘i Dept. of Commerce & Consumer Affairs)

License renewals begin on October 19, 2026 and ALL real estate licenses must be renewed by the Hawai‘i Real Estate Commission-prescribed deadline of November 30, 2026. Licensees are responsible for ensuring that they have successfully renewed their licenses.

  • ON-TIME license renewal may be done via your MyPVL account at mypvl.dcca.hawaii.gov . You will notice that MyPVL has an updated interface called myHawaii. If this is your first time logging in to this updated system, you will be required to verify your email address. In addition, myHawaii has updated their password criteria; therefore, if your original (eHawaii) password credentials do not meet myHawaii’s requirements, you will need to update your password as well.

  • Log in to your MyPVL account well ahead of November 30 to ensure you are able to access your account. If you are unable to log into your account, you may contact Tyler Technologies at (808) 695-4620 for log-in assistance or click on “CONTACT SUPPORT” toward the bottom of your MyPVL log-in page.

  • Your MyPVL account is also where you will check your continuing education (CE) history and that your CE credits have been reported by the CE provider(s).

    • Your ON-TIME license renewal includes the completion of 20 hours (6 core, 14 elective) of CE that must also be completed by November 30. Once logged into your MyPVL, click on your license number, then click the RECE (Real Estate Continuing Education) tab to ensure you are not repeating an elective course that you have received credit for in the previous biennium.

    • If CEs are not completed by this renewal deadline, licensees jeopardize their license status come January 1, 2027, and will become involuntarily inactive. The November 30 deadline provides ample time for processing of renewal applications.

  • If your answer is “YES” to any of the questions on the renewal application, you will not be able to renew online. In this instance, you will be prompted to print the renewal application and SUBMIT A HARD COPY BY MAIL or IN-PERSON. Renewals submitted by mail or in-person require additional time for processing.

DO NOT CONFUSE your REAL ESTATE LICENSE with your REALTOR® board / association membership.

ATTENTION PBs and BICs: Renew your individual and brokerage licenses well ahead of the November 30, 2026 deadline.

If a PB, BIC and/or brokerage firm’s license(s) has not been successfully renewed, all associated licensees, even those who have renewed their individual licenses ON-TIME, will be at risk. Should the PB or brokerage firm fail to renew by December 31, 2026, all associated licensees will become “INACTIVE” come January 1, 2027, and may not conduct any real estate activity. PB, BIC and/or brokerage firm’s license status may be found at https://mypvl.dcca.hawaii.gov/public-license-search/

Important Changes:

  1. All real estate related matters, including renewals, are now being handled by the Real Estate Branch (REB). Please visit REB at Room #333 instead of Room 301 going forward. Their phone number is: 1-844-808-DCCA (3222) Ext. #1, then #8.

  2. Express Change Broker Request (ECBR): If you are reflecting “VALID THRU EXPIRATION DATE, SUBJECT TO RENEWAL” under the “License Status” heading in your MyPVL account, you will NOT be allowed to use the online ECBR system and must submit a hard copy Change Form request to the Real Estate Branch. Once you renew and your status reflects “Current, Valid & In Good Standing” you WILL be able to continue to use the ECBR. Another important note, if you successfully renew your license, but your new hiring PB/ Entity has not yet renewed, the PB/Entity will not be visible in the drop-down menu. Until the hiring PB/Entity successfully renews their licenses, you will not be able to utilize the ECBR, and you must submit a hard copy Change Form request.
