From our founding in 1967 to today, Hawaii REALTORS® has grown to serve nearly 11,000 members statewide.
For the first year, the officers and directors were the same as the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® (HBR), plus the president of the Hawai‘i Island Board of REALTORS®. Past presidents of HBR became honorary past presidents of the state association.
The Board of Directors adopts the dba name of Hawaii REALTORS®.
The Board approved a motion that HAR become autonomous from HBR.
The Hawai'i Association of Real Estate Boards is changed to the Hawai'i Association of REALTORS® (HAR).
The Board approved the separation of the State Association and the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, effective January 1974.
The organization was made possible by the formation of the Hawai'i Island Board of REALTORS® in 1968 and its willingness to create a state association.
The Hawai'i Association of Real Estate Boards received its charter from the National Association of REALTORS® after recommendation by the directors of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® and ratification by active brokerage members.
