What is the HAR Leadership Academy?

The Hawai‘i Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy (HARLA) is a training and development program designed to empower individuals to maximize their leadership potential.

In this dynamic leadership experience, participants will combine individual study, group sessions, and actual project experience to develop their leadership skills. If selected, you will join fellow REALTORS® in a powerful series of retreats, including sessions on leadership skills, team-building exercises, procedures for goal-setting, personal profile analysis, network building and improving communication skills.

2021 Program

All 2021 sessions will be held virtually with exception to the Graduation Day Ceremony on October 28, 2021.


Get acquainted with the virtual program, fellow students, and facilitators. The session will also include Zoom etiquette training.

SESSION 1 (JUNE 8, 9, AND 10, 2021)

Two days of DISC training and one day devoted to the REALTOR® Leadership Program where students will increase their institutional knowledge and strengthen their leadership skills. The session includes powerful tools that should be included in every leader’s toolbox, such as public speaking, how to conduct a meeting, and incorporating our culture.

SESSION 2 (AUGUST 10, 11 AND 12, 2021)

Students will learn to identify and leverage their strengths for positive results, as well as gain knowledge about the different styles of leadership. Training will include a mock meeting, finding your strengths, and the mechanics of speech.

SESSION 3 (OCTOBER 26, 27 AND 28, 2021)

Students will be provided with the final set of practical tools to assist them in becoming successful leaders such as sharpening skills on public speaking, media training, and team projects.


Application Process


REALTOR® members who are interested in sharpening their leadership skills to help them exert a strong, positive influence on the future of the REALTORS® organization and in their profession.

SELECTION AND COMMITMENTParticipation in the program is open to HAR members. Space is limited to no more than 16 attendees each year. Applicants selected for inclusion in the program must attend all three sessions and pay a $750 tuition fee. This fee covers the sessions, handout materials, and meals. Travel arrangements and expenses to attend the graduation are the responsibility of the participant.
