What is the HAR Leadership Academy?

The Hawai‘i Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy (HARLA) is a training and development program designed to empower individuals to maximize their leadership potential.

In this dynamic leadership experience, participants will combine individual study, group sessions, and actual project experience to develop their leadership skills. If selected, you will join fellow REALTORS® in a powerful series of retreats, including sessions on leadership skills, team-building exercises, procedures for goal-setting, personal profile analysis, network building and improving communication skills.

Program

Session 1 (June 4, 5, and 6, 2019)

Includes a half-day welcome to get acquainted with the program, fellow students and participants, and the REALTOR® organization. Plus one day of DISC training and one day devoted to the powerful REALTOR® Leadership Program where students will increase their institutional knowledge and strengthen their leadership skills.

Session 2 (August 6, 7 and 8, 2019)

Through this session, students will learn to identify and leverage their strengths for positive results, as well as gain knowledge about the different styles of leadership. The session includes powerful tools that should be included in every leader’s toolbox, such as public speaking, media training, and strategic planning.

Session 3 (October 1, 2 and 3, 2019)

The third session provides students with the final set of practical tools to assist them in becoming successful leaders. Training will include mastering difficult conversations, dealing with conflict, setting SMART goals, and decision making.

Location

All 2019 sessions will be held on Hawai‘i Island at the Kilauea Military Camp.

REALTOR® members who are interested in sharpening their leadership skills to help them exert a strong, positive influence on the future of the REALTORS® organization and in their profession.

SELECTION AND COMMITMENT

Participation in the program is open to HAR members. Space is limited to no more than 16 attendees each year. Applicants selected for inclusion in the program must attend all three retreats and pay a $1,250 tuition fee. This fee covers the sessions, handout materials, accommodations, and meals. Travel arrangements and expenses to attend the sessions are the responsibility of the participant.
