Professional Code of Ethics

Among fellow REALTORS®, the Code of Ethics serves as the “golden rule” for conduct and the basis for the organization’s valuable dispute resolution system. To customers, clients, and the public, the REALTOR® Code of Ethics provides important assurance of a REALTORS®’ integrity and professionalism.

Membership Marks

The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark. Members are licensed to use the Association’s logo and federally registered marks — REALTOR®, REALTORS®, and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®. Use of these marks indicates to the public that you are a member of the National Association.

 Government Affairs

Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy

HAR represents and protects the business interests of each member through legislative representation in local, state, and federal government, real estate-issues lobbying, and one-on-one meetings with elected officials.

REALTORS® Political Action Committee

The REALTOR®'s Political Action Committee encourages individual participation in the political process to ensure the REALTOR®'s viewpoint on industry issues is heard at all levels of government.

Political Communications Network (PCN)
The PCN program is designed to assist HAR and State Legislature by providing an interchange of information and services for the benefit of both parties. PCN contacts are responsible for communicating REALTORS® views to legislators and legislators’ views to HAR.

 Member Products and Services

Standard Forms
HAR has 37 forms available to assist REALTORS® with their real estate transactions. Members can download and use ZipForm contract management software, and access and print blank HAR forms.

Legal Action Fund
The Legal Action Fund provides financial and/or legal assistance in court or administrative actions brought against members or non members, if the action may result in the determination or promotion of legal issues, which are of significance to a substantial portion of HAR members, private property owners, or the Hawai'i real estate industry in general.

 Education

Encouragement for members to consistently update their knowledge relating to real estate through programs that offer prestigious designations in the Graduate, REALTORS® Institute (GRI), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), and Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).

Industry Events

HAR offers REALTORS® an opportunity to learn and network for personal development and business growth. The meetings are designed to provide REALTORS® and those active in related industries with information and education on timely topics, trade expositions that showcase and demonstrate the most innovative products and services, forums for sharing ideas and business development opportunities.

The HAR website is the source for real estate and association information for members, as well as the general public. The public site contains general information about HAR and links to other sites, including HAR’s six local boards. The Members Only section provides REALTORS® with access to government affairs updates, information about the latest educational opportunities, association events, downloadable standard forms, and committee information.

HAR News Bulletin
The association’s email-based newsletter is distributed weekly. It includes announcement about HAR’s products and services, events, new website features, local and national real estate news.
